Back to the 70's- Shoes

These  embroidered platform shoes by Frequencies are big hitters in my eyes to fit in with the seventies trend. They would look great with my design and id probs add some little mustard ankle socks with them.

Back to the 70's- and its finished

Today I just had to tidy some things up like lose threads and stitch you the bottom of the skirt and i was all done.

Above: The bottom of the dress being more loose and messy rather than a perfectly straight line, gathered was the word I was looking for.

Above: This was the bottom of the dress more structured and i made panels to create a shape but I preferred the top version as it goes with the hippy styled look and fits in getter with the gathered waist line.

Final outcome! Yayyyyyyyy

Back to the 70's- Short legnth it is...

Today iv had a really busy day at college, done another design developement sheet just to focus on the neckline and the bottom of my dress and iv actually altered my design in a way.

Below: Second design development sheet.

This was my dress at the beginning of the day, and i wasnt feeling the handkerchief styled bottom of the dress how its longer at the front and back and short at the sides. So below are just some images of me messing on with the skirt and playing around to try and make it look more structured.

Left: This is my design from side on, only pinned thought, obvs when its stitched properly it will fall better. So il do that tomorrow during the day, and post so more images then. :) buy for nowwww.

Oh I nearly forgot to mention the necline got binded to neating the edges up and the heams down the side got sewing up over the weekend by the ladies in college which was very kind of them. Also I finished off the belt which was VERY frustrating, but got there in the end with a gathering effect.

Back to the 70's- Accessories

Catwalk Fix - Fendi

We all know the seventies look has been appearing on the autumn/winter 2011-12 catwalk. From Marc by Marc Jacobs to Mulberry and Fendi, polite, almost preppy looks have been catching our eyes. But what jewellery to work with this look? Well look what iv came across the hippy-esque bracelets with multi-coloured stones that were shown on the Fendi catwalk are just the thing to have peeping out from under next season's chiffon blouses and fur coats.

Back to the 70's- change of plan

When I was messing on with different designs for my maxi dress i was getting off putted as i thought the legnth of the skirt was more elagant rather than the hippie look i was going for. So iv shorted the legnth of the dress and just started again really with trying different shaps around the neck line and waist, iv uploaded the imaged below

Back to the 70's- developement

Out of the bunch of garments from The Salvation Amry, my eyes got drew sraight towards this white lacey table cloth. I had like a long maxi dress in mind with a detailed fancy halter neck.

Below: Design developement sheet

Below I have uploaded a few snaps of me messing on with the fabric on the form to create some different neck lines to see what look best with a maxi style neck.

Back to the 70's.

Yaaayyyy! New project finally, and look what trend my group has 70's. Im so pleased with this you can go off in so many different directions from silhouettes, A-line skirts, platforms, even flares to hot pants. Basically the brief cut down into a few sentences; we have been giving 70 like garments donated from The Salvation Army (charity shop) and we have to come up with a collection in our groups. So in this blog im going to be showing you guys the process through to my final design and the groups full collection. So.. hope you enjoy and wish me look.

To start off... RESEARCH!!

Above:This is a mood board created by our tutors. It has gave me so much inspiration, I love the Marc Jacobs seventies spring collection thats by far my favourite. Fabrics, silhouettes, colors, hairstyles, everything was just perfect in my eyes.
